Good Friday Feast to kickstart 2023 TSL season

Round one of the 2023 Tasmanian State League fixture has been released, with a Good Friday footy feast set to kick the season off in style.

Round one will see the traditional Good Friday clash between North Hobart and Kingborough and derbies between arch-rivals North Launceston and Launceston in the north, and Lauderdale and Clarence in the south.

The fixture will again be made up of 21 rounds, with all seven teams playing each other three times before a four-team, three-week finals series.

After some well-known player number challenges across the off-season, Glenorchy will field a senior side in the TSL competition but will not participate in the Development League.

The full TSL and TSL Development League fixtures will be released in the coming weeks. TSL Management will also reveal details relating to themed matches closer to the season, and as the season progresses.

AFL Tasmania Regional Manager – South & TSL, Andy Bennett, said, “Confirmation of round one of the 2023 TSL fixture is an exciting moment as we build towards the season.

“Glenorchy’s participation in the TSL is a positive outcome for the club, the competition and Tasmanian football more broadly.

“Glenorchy is a proud, historic club, and I’d like to publicly acknowledge the efforts of new President Tim Woodham and coach Josh Arnold. Tim and Josh have put a power of work into getting the club into a position to field a senior team.

“I would also like to acknowledge the goodwill of the broader TSL community. Every TSL club has been fully supportive of Glenorchy’s drive to field a senior team, and I thank them for their patience and cooperation.

“We’re now able to fully embrace the excitement of an upcoming season, and each club has reason to dream big heading into a new campaign.”
