Wrest Point TSLW Round 9 Preview

Round nine of the Wrest Point TSLW competition sees North Launceston and Clarence headline the round on Saturday at UTAS Stadium, writes TSL W reporter Olivia Clayton.

Saturday 29^th June

North Launceston and Clarence will battle it out in round nine at UTAS Stadium this Saturday.

North Launceston won their fourth match this season last week after they defeated the Tigers by seven points.

Clarence went down to ladder leader’s Launceston in round eight by 13 points in probably the closest match between the two sides this season.

North Launceston overtook Clarence on the ladder at the end of round eight to sit in third place by percentage only. This match will see one of the sides go one game clear in third on the ladder.

The Northern Bombers, in their first season in the competition will be eyeing off a big scalp, with Clarence still one of the competition’s best sides.

Lauderdale and Launceston will take on each other this Sunday at Lauderdale’s home ground.

Launceston kept Lauderdale scoreless the last time they met in round three.

Lauderdale were also kept scoreless in round eight against Glenorchy despite their continued efforts. Lauderdale are sitting last on the ladder but will continue to look for little wins as the year continues.

Launceston defeated Clarence by 13 points last week and remain on top of the ladder two games clear of Glenorchy in second. With plenty of star power across the field, the Blues will be a tough task for the developing Bombers.

Glenorchy hosts the Tigers once again in round nine after they first met this season in the ANZAC Day match.

Glenorchy kept Lauderdale scoreless last week and finished the match with 181 points and eleven different goal kickers to stamp their authority on the competition.

The Pies are currently sitting in second on the ladder, two games behind ladder leaders Launceston.

The Tigers took on North Launceston in round eight, and although it was an extremely close match they were defeated by seven points.

The Tigers have won one match this year but over the last couple of weeks in particularly have shown that they are gelling well as a team.
