#BUPATSL young guns to represent Devils

The under-25 Tasmania Devils squad has been announced ahead of next month’s representative match against an under-25 Victoria Metro side. 

This team of young guns will represent the Devils against a side made up of the best young talent out of Victorian Metro Leagues on Sunday 9 June. This match will be part of a big triple-header, with NAB League and NAB AFL U18 National Championships matches to precede it.

The squad was initially selected through consultation with TSL clubs and regional Talent Managers, with the squad then trimmed after multiple training sessions in Launceston and Hobart.

AFL Tasmania North West Talent Manager Jamie Hayward, who will be head coach of the team, says the squad is full of exciting talent.

“We have assembled a strong squad with a mix of speed, height and grunt,” Hayward said.

“We have tailored our selections to pick a squad that we feel can match it with the dynamic skill and speed that we can expect from this Victoria Metro side.”

As part of this triple-header, players will get the chance to impress in front of AFL club recruiters.

“This representative match is a great opportunity for these young guns to not only represent their state, but to also showcase their talents on a big stage.

“We have had fantastic buy-in from players and clubs and can see that the opportunity to represent the Tasmania Devils is a cherished one for all involved.

“Tassie footy fans have plenty to look forward to, with the state’s best young talent representing two Tasmanian teams on the day and hopefully a number of fellow Tasmanians representing the Allies as well,” Hayward said.

Sunday 9 June – UTAS Stadium, Launceston

10:00am – Tasmania Devils v Murray Bushrangers (NAB League Round 10)

12:30pm – Allies v Victoria Country (NAB U18 National Championships)

3:00pm – Tasmania Devils v Victoria Metro (U25 Representative Match)
