Bupa TSL Round 21 Back of the Week

The final round of the Bupa Tasmanian State League season has come and gone, with the make-up of the final five finally known.

After an exciting finish to the home and away season, we want to know who you considered to be the standout performers of the round.

We start by looking at the defenders, with two finals-bound backmen delivered strong round 21 performances.

Daniel Joseph (Glenorchy)

Another week, another strong performance from Glenorchy star Daniel Joseph.

Joseph was at his devastating best on Saturday afternoon, intercepting and providing plenty of drive out of defence.

Although the Magpies fell short of the Blues, Joseph was one of the best performers on the ground, even drifting forward to kick a goal.

Ryan Edmondson (Clarence)

Now a key pillar in this Clarence defensive unit, Ryan Edmondson did an excellent job of curbing the influence of in-form Tigers star Mitch Carter for much of Saturday afternoon’s encounter at Blundstone Arena.

Although Mitch Carter finished with three goals late, Edmondson’s efforts throughout the duration of the afternoon were first rate and underlined the important role he will be able to play for Jeromey Webberley’s side moving into the finals.

Capable of playing on a tall power forward or a mid-sized awkward opponent, Edmondson, a former Lindisfarne player, will be a key player in determining Clarence’s fate in this weekend’s Elimination Final against Lauderdale.
