Week 1 Finals Schedule Announced

With the dust beginning to settle on an exciting round 21 of the 2018 Bupa Tasmanian State League season, the schedule for the first week of finals has been announced. 

Week one of the Bupa TSL finals series will provide a tantalising double header at Blundstone Arena in what promises to be one of the most exciting finals series in recent memory. 

Glenorchy will face Launceston for the second time in as many weeks in a big Qualifying Final on Saturday afternoon before Eastern Shore rivals Clarence and Lauderdale meet in a do-or-die Elimination Final later that evening. 

The third-placed Blues held on to record a thrilling win over the second-placed Magpies in the final round of the home and away season and have two wins from three encounters between the sides this season. 

As two of the competition’s most in-form sides, this clash promises to be an intriguing fixture, a year on from Launceston’s Elimination Final triumph over the Magpies at the same venue in 2017. 

The fascinating Eastern Shore rivalry between Clarence and Lauderdale will have another chapter written this weekend, with the two sides meeting in a mouthwatering Elimination Final under Saturday night lights. 

Clarence has two wins over the Bombers so far this season, although the Bombers took bragging rights when the two sides met in the Speak UP! Stay ChatTY Cup clash back in round 15. 

Lauderdale ended Clarence’s finals aspirations in last season’s Semi Final at the same venue. 

These two clashes will come after the Mercury Cup Elimination Final between North Launceston and Lauderdale at UTAS Stadium on Saturday morning and the Qualifying Final between Clarence and Glenorchy at Blundstone Arena.
