Bupa TSL Round 20 Midfielder of the Week

The penultimate round of the Bupa Tasmanian State League season has been run and won, with some significant results on the eve of finals.

We want to know who you thought were the standout performers from the weekend’s round of action!

We now look at the midfield, where one of Lauderdale’s generals and an exciting draft prospect continued their impressive campaigns.

Nat Franklin (Lauderdale)

A key cog in this Lauderdale line-up for a while now, Nat Franklin continues to go from strength to strength for the finals-bound Bombers.

Working brilliantly alongside Bryce Walsh, Phil Bellchambers and the like, Franklin is a contested beast with the skills and bravery to take the game on and punish opposition sides.

This was on display at North Hobart Oval, where he kicked two goals, took a spectacular mark and found stacks of the football in a fruitful afternoon for player and club.

Chayce Jones (Launceston)

Few players have had the impact of Chayce Jones in such a short space of time. Easily among Launceston’s best in every game he has played since returning from Tassie Mariners and Allies duties, Jones was again the Blues’ best with a dominant display against the Tigers.

Finding a stack of the football and using it well, Jones can punish opposition sides when given the opportunity, but it is also his work rate and willingness to do the team things that make him such an alluring draft prospect.

A key part of the Blues’ second half resurgence, Jones finished the game with three RACT Insurance Player of the Year votes to take his season tally to nine. A stunning result considering he has played just four senior matches for the season.
