Bupa TSL Round 18 Back of the Week
With round 18 of the Bupa Tasmanian State League season now behind us, we take a look at who were the standout performers from the weekend’s action.
We start by looking at the defenders, where a key North Launceston utility and an ultra consistent Magpie got the job done once again.
Zach Burt (North Launceston)
Zach Burt was steadfast in defence for the Bombers on Saturday, playing an integral role in the absence of injured star Jay Foon.
Burt played as a sweeper for much of the match, cutting off Clarence bombs inside 50, while generating bounce and slick ball movement out of defensive 50.
Having spent time as a forward and defender throughout the 2018 season, performances like this will make it hard for Taylor Whitford to shift the superstar back inside 50.

Daniel Joseph (Glenorchy)
Another game, another impressive performance from RACTI Player of the Year leader Daniel Joseph.
Joseph was at his prolific best in defence, even drifting forward to kick a sensational banana goal from the pocket.
Joseph’s height, size and ability to read the play proved crucial for the winners against North Hobart, as he again generated offensive movement out of defence.
