Bupa TSL Round 17 Back of the Week
Round 17 of the Bupa Tasmanian State League season has come and gone, and with the business end of the season fast approaching, we want to know who you considered to be the premier players of the round.
We now look to the defence, where a Launceston star continued his impressive recent form and a Magpie gun stood tall in a losing cause.
Rulla Kelly-Mansell (Launceston)
Launceston X-Factor Rulla Kelly-Mansell has continued his impressive recent form with another starring performance off half back for the Blues.
Kelly-Mansell drifted forward to kick two majors, while also providing plenty of drive out of defensive 50.
Using his pace, silky skills and strong football nous, Kelly-Mansell is fast becoming one of the competition’s premier rebounding defenders, as evidenced by this effort against the southern Bombers at Windsor Park.

Daniel Joseph (Glenorchy)
It might not have been the Magpies day on Saturday afternoon but Daniel Joseph continued his impressive 2018 campaign with another strong showing in defence.
Often bombarded by the Northern Bombers’ slick ball movement, Joseph was at his typically industrious best, using his sublime ability to read the play to cut off attacking forays and his precision kicking to generate offensive movement out of the back half.
Now a game clear on top of the RACT Insurance Player of the Year leaderboard, the influence of Joseph’s return to KGV should not be undersold.
