Bupa TSL Round 12 Back of the Week
With the dust starting to settle on a bumper round 12 of the Bupa Tasmanian State League season, we now cast our eyes over the standout defenders, midfielders and forwards of the round.
We now look at the defenders, with a Glenorchy star and an in-form Roo the contenders.
Daniel Joseph (Glenorchy)
Glenorchy’s off season recruitment of Daniel Joseph continues to pay dividends, with the star Magpie’s consistent 2018 campaign continuing against the Demons.
Joseph patrolled the defensive 50 with aplomb, earning two votes in the RACT Insurance Player of the Year award to move to just one vote off leader Ryan Bailey.
Alongside Josh Arnold, the Magpies have two of the best defenders in the league, and Joseph’s influence in this side should not be understated.

Taylor Williamson (Clarence)
Taylor Williamson, as part of a defensive unit that kept the reigning premiers to just nine goals (and none in the final term), continued his exceptional 2018 with another strong performance.
Williamson was a rock in defence, taking several crucial contested marks at important stages.
Alongside Jason Bailey and James Holmes, Williamson is part of a defensive group that has conceded the second least amount of points for the year, and efforts like this and last week’s against Launceston, will give opposition sides plenty to think about.
