TSL Management Appeal Tribunal Decision UPDATE

The appeal hearing has been rescheduled from Thursday 31 May 2018 at the request of the Glenorchy District Football Club due to the unavailability of key personnel.

The appeal hearing will now take place on Wednesday 6 June 2018 at 5:30pm.

Bupa Tasmanian State League (TSL) management have exercised their right to appeal Tuesday night’s Independent Tribunal decision.

Josh Grant (Glenorchy) was reported for behaving in an abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene manner towards or in relation to an umpire and the matter was heard by the Independent TSL Tribunal on Tuesday night. Grant pleaded not guilty at the hearing and was found guilty by the Independent Tribunal and was handed a ONE MATCH sanction.

TSL management have applied for appeal to the Independent appeals board on the grounds that the one match sanction imposed by the Tribunal is manifestly inadequate, as per TSL rule:

4.3 Grounds for Appeal

Except where otherwise determined by the Controlling Body, a Person found guilty of a Reportable Offence by the Tribunal, or the Controlling Body may only appeal to the Appeal Board in respect of a decision made by the Tribunal under these Guidelines on one or more of the following grounds:

(d) that the sanction imposed was manifestly excessive or inadequate.

TSL management is unable to make comment as they are required to present at the appeal hearing.
