Wrest Point TSLW Round 5 Preview
Round five of the Wrest Point Tasmanian State League Women’s season sees the return of Melbourne Football Club AFLW star Emma Humphries and the competition travelling to Oatlands for the first time this year, writes TSLW Digital Reporter Olivia Clayton.

Last Time They Met: Launceston 5.8 (38) def. Clarence 4.4 (28) – Final Round 1, 2017 at Geilston Bay
Clarence and Launceston will meet for the first time since the 2017 Wrest Point TSLW round one final. Clarence went down by ten points on that occasion and was knocked out of the final series by Glenorchy the following round. Launceston went on to win the Grand Final making them the 2017 season premiers.
Clarence’s four goals were kicked by Emma Groves, Maddy Smith, Nicole Bresnehan and Mel Wise. Georgia Hill nabbed two goals for Launceston along with Daria Bannister, whilst Naomi Celebre scored one. 
The two sides will both be looking to record a win in this contest, with Launceston flying high on top of the ladder and the ‘Roos sitting just one win behind in second place.
The ‘Roos enter the match after a big win over a 111-point win over Burnie Dockers, while Launceston are coming off a 83-point win over the Tigers.
Loveth Ochayi and Hannah Scott both come in this week for Clarence whilst Olivia Hudson and Chantelle MacPherson are out for this round.
Launceston have made quite a few lie up changes with Nikki Ristrom, J. Clifford, Amy Halaby and Courtney Webb in for round five. Elyse Page, Zoe Claridge, Emma Manix-geeves and Jacinta Retallick are all out this week.
Players to Watch:
Loveth Ochayi (Clarence): Ochayi was a strong contender in last year’s AFLW draft combine. Although she wasn’t selected Ochayi recently played a practice match for the Melbourne University Women’s Football Club against the Casey Demons in Victoria. Ochayi joined Clarence after playing for the Tigers in the 2017 TSLW and is already a key player due to her skills and athleticism.
Mia King (Launceston): King only played three games in 2017 for the Blues and was named in the best players once. So far, she has played two games this year including a three-goal effort against the Tigers in round four. King also finished second in the best players for that round proving that she is definitely a player to watch.

Glenorchy returns from the bye to take on Burnie at KGV in round five. 
The Magpies have only lost one game this year, whilst Burnie are yet to win their first match for 2018.
Both teams last played each other in the first semi-final of the 2017 season. Burnie was knocked out of the finals after going down to Glenorchy by 36 points. The Magpies made it all the way to the Grand Final, before going down to the Blues.
Sandra Eaton, Janelle Rattenbury and Kate Rattenbury all kicked two goals against Burnie in the semi-final, whilst Holly Ryan scored one. Chloe Haines kicked both goals for Burnie.
This week Burnie sees the return of AFLW player Emma Humphries, as well as, Emily Doig and Sarah Wilson. Emily Duncombe, Amy-Lee Radford and Sienna Ferguson-Stevens are all out for round five. 
Glenorchy returns from the bye with Katie Stanford coming into the side and Jasmine Tate Turvey named as the emergency. Gennaveve Sullivan will miss this week’s match against Burnie.
The Dockers will be eager to bounce back and stay competitive after scoring just one behind in last weekend’s 111-point loss to Clarence.
Players to Watch:
Nietta Lynch (Glenorchy): In the 2017 TSLW season, Lynch played 14 games, scored 14 goals and was named in the best players ten times. Lynch has played three games so far this year, scoring at least one goal each game and finishing third in the best players for round three. A key part of this Magpies’ outfit.
Emma Humphries (Burnie): Humphries was drafted by the Melbourne Football Club with their eighth selection making her 57th overall in the 2016 AFL Women’s draft. Humphries played every match of her debut season last year and re-signed with Melbourne for 2018. Humphries played 13 matches last year for Burnie, scoring two goals and finishing in the best players six times.
