RACT Insurance Player of the Year Votes – Round Six

Round six votes are in for the RACT Insurance Player of the Year award, with a Roo standing tall, a Blue oozing class and an underrated Bomber all receiving top marks from the judges. 

Clarence utility Ryan Bailey impressed in the Roos’ vital win over Glenorchy, stepping up in the absence of injured ruckman Wade Wall to shoulder the bulk of the workload, while also competing well around the ground. Midfield gun Jackson O’Brien controlled the middle of the ground in his best game for the season and Glenorchy stalwart Jaye Bowden picked up a vote after standing up as his side’s best.

Launceston prime mover Jay Blackberry was an enormous part of the Blues’ big win over the Tigers, and was rewarded for his efforts with his first three votes for the season. Big forward Mitch Thorp’s eight-goal haul earned him two, while emerging star Jake Hinds received one vote for his impressive display through the middle.

Three players received their first votes for the season in the clash between Lauderdale and North Hobart, with Alex Hevey and Rhys Sutton standing out for the visitors and young gun William Peppin collecting a vote for the hosts.

Mitch Thorp’s big performance at Windsor Park has brought him within striking distance of leader Daniel Joseph, with Joseph’s Magpies teammate Jaye Bowden also edging closer in a tight leaderboard early in the season.
