RACT Insurance Player of the Year Votes – Round Five
Round five votes are in for the RACT Insurance Player of the Year award, with an underrated Magpie, consistent Blue and returning premiership coach receiving top marks.
Underrated Glenorchy midfielder Ben Kamaric stood tall on ANZAC Day, earning the ANZAC Medal and three votes for his leading role in the Magpies’ 20-point win over the Tigers at Kingston’s Twin Ovals, with in-form teammate Daniel Joseph receiving two votes and Tigers star Ryan Matthews picking up one.
In his first game back since the 2017 Grand Final triumph, Tom Couch wasted no time in making his presence felt, kicking four goals and finding plenty of the ball on his way to three votes against North Hobart. Key forwards Tom Bennett and Zach Burt also picked up two votes and one vote respectively for the second time this season after kicking nine goals between them.
Launceston enjoyed a solid 30-point win over Clarence at Blundstone Arena on Saturday, with consistent midfielder Sam Rundle impressing with his work around stoppages. Goalsneak James Gillow was rewarded for his two-goal game with two votes, whole Clarence defender Jason Bailey, who also spent some time in attack, rounded out the votes.

Clarence gun Brady Jones and North Launceston big man Tom Bennett sit one point adrift Palfreyman, with a stunning 13 players sitting on three votes behind them.
