Bupa TSL Round 19 Forward of the Week
Round 19 saw three big results as teams continue to jostle for spots within the top five.
We want to know who you considered to be the key figures in these results as we run through the standout defenders, midfielders and forwards of the round.
We start by looking at the finishers, with two of the competition’s big guns firing in front of the big sticks.
Mitch Thorp (Launceston)
The Blues are humming on the eve of finals, and spearhead Mitch Thorp looks to also be approaching his peak at the right time of the season.
The Peter Hudson Medal winner is thriving in a role that takes him further up the field, with his partnership with ex-Devonport teammate Dylan Riley emerging as one of the competition’s most dynamic.
Thorp kicked six goals against the ‘Roos, including three in the final term to secure the result, putting him 14 goals ahead of next best Jaye Bowden and Tom Bennett.
Key defenders will have their work cut out for them with Thorp and the Blues hitting their straps.
Bart McCulloch (North Launceston)
The Northern Bomber star has been finding some impressive touch of late, with his six goals at North Hobart Oval backing up the three he kicked against Clarence the week earlier.
McCulloch’s ability in the air proved to be too much for the hapless Demons, who didn’t have the personnel to compete with such a damaging target.
With silver service from his midfield group and clinical finishing from himself, the Bombers were at their blistering best in the win and played a simply irresistible brand of football.
