Bupa TSL Round 15 Forward of the Week
Round 15 of the Bupa Tasmanian State League is now behind us, and after a weekend soaked in drama and entertaining football, we want to know who you considered to be the standout performers.
We start this week with the forwards, where a returning star and a player fulfilling a different role stood tall for their respective sides.
Dylan Riley (Launceston)
The defender-cum-forward nearly did enough to drag his Blues over the line on Friday night, making the most of his move from one end of the ground to other.
A star defender throughout 2018 so far, Riley was thrust inside 50 by coach Sam Lonergan for the Launceston derby in a beneficial move.
Riley booted four goals, including three in the third term, to take control of the contest and put the Blues into a strong position come the final term.
The Blues may have fallen short come the final siren, but this was far from any fault of Riley, who stood tall in his new role.
Thor Boscott (Lauderdale)
What a return from the Bomber star.
After breaking his foot in January, Boscott has only been running and training with the main group for the last month or so, but one would be forgiven for not knowing this while watching his performance in the Eastern Shore derby.
Parked at full forward, Boscott was at his mercurial best, kicking three goals while also competing aerially and at ground level.
Boscott adds another dimension to an already potent forward line as he, and the Bombers, ask opposition sides serious questions.
If this was the entree return game, we can’t wait for the main course as the business end of the season approaches.
