Bupa TSL Round 15 Back of the Week
Round 15 of the Bupa Tasmanian State League is now behind us, and after a weekend soaked in drama and entertaining football, we want to know who you considered to be the standout performers.
We start by looking at the defensive end of the ground, where a key Tiger impressed against his former side and a prized North Launceston asset played a crucial role that started in the back half.
Jake Doran (Tigers)
The former Hobart City/North Hobart defender played another solid game in defence for the Tigers, controlling the side’s defensive structures.
Doran’s ability to spoil and intercept makes him a valuable asset, with his size and agility making him a defender that opposition forwards often need to put work into.
When the game tightened up late, it was Doran who organised his teammates and ensured the Demons found it tough to take full ascendancy. An underrated performer who appears to only be appearing as the 2018 season draws on.
Sherrin Egger (North Launceston)
The former Devonport star continued his impressive debut season in the red and black, patrolling the defensive half of the ground early before making a switch further afield later in the game.
Hardly losing a one-on-one contest all night, Egger competes well against taller and smaller opponents, while his elite skills also came to the fore on a cold, windy night of football.
Shifted forward late to provide another attacking option, Egger kicked a crucial goal late to spark a three-goal streak that helped the Bombers storm home to clinch a thrilling one-point win.
