Bupa TSL Round 11 Back of the Week
Round 11 of the Bupa Tasmanian State League has been run and won, with Clarence, North Launceston and Glenorchy recording important victories.
We want to know who you considered to be the standout performers across the round.
We start by looking at the defenders, with a key Roo and a returning Magpie the contenders.
Taylor Williamson (Clarence)
A rock in defence for Clarence, Taylor Williamson was crucial in helping Clarence to a key win over the Blues, taking big marks inside defensive 50 and using the ball well.
Alongside Jason Bailey and James Holmes, Williamson is part of a stringent defensive group that kept Launceston to just six goals.
Williamson marked every ball that came his way throughout the afternoon, out-marking opponents and reading the ball well in the air to find space and take uncontested marks.
Perhaps underrated by many, Williamson has enhanced his standing as one of his side’s most important players.
Josh Grant (Glenorchy)
Josh Grant slotted straight back into Glenorchy’s back six with immediate effect, delivering a strong performance inside defensive 50.
Working well alongside Daniel Joseph, Glenorchy conceded 76 points, the team’s lowest conceded score since ANZAC Day.
A crucial figure in defence, Josh Grant was a rock for the ‘Pies, highlighting his importance to the structure of this side.
